Devoted to advancing sustainable population practices, William (Bill) Ryerson serves as the chair and CEO of Population Institute, a nonprofit organization that strives to educate underserved groups on the environmental implications of overpopulation. Concerned with topics ranging from gender equality to migration (emigration and immigration), Bill Ryerson spoke at a side event of the Women Deliver conference in Copenhagen, Denmark in May of 2016.
A nonprofit organization focused on women’s rights, health, and well being, Women Deliver holds a triennial conference that brings women’s rights and issues to the forefront. The fourth Women Deliver conference was held in Copenhagen; throughout, speakers, thought leaders, researchers, and youth gathered together to explore the possibilities of a world where women and girls are the focus of development efforts.
With 6,000 attendees and more than 169 countries represented, the conference theme was the implementation of sustainable development goals and how to make them a priority for women and girls; a particular focus was placed upon maternal, sexual, and reproductive health. Additional areas explored at this year’s event included gender equality, education, economic development, and environmental issues.
Featuring more than 70 presenters, a culture night at the historic Tivoli Gardens, side events, and a career fair, this year’s Women Deliver conference offered a rich variety of opportunities for participants.
